On April 29th, Watts Construction joined the Washington County Children’s Justice Center in cutting the ribbon on their new expansion. The new 11,331 square foot building sits adjacent to the current facility and was needed to support the medical and mental health services provided by the Children’s Justice Center.
The expansion includes a medical office, exam rooms, consultation rooms, a therapy reception area, therapy rooms, play therapy rooms with observation rooms, six offices, a break room, a courtyard, a waiting area, and a large conference room with two room dividers. The building was designed to look and feel like a home, to contribute to the overall feeling of safety for the children at the center.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees heard from many great pillars of the community. Scott Wyckoff, the chair of the Washington County Children’s Justice Center Advisory Board, kicked off the event by acknowledging all of the partners who made this project possible. The program then went as follows: Washington County Commissioner, Gil Almquist, St. George City Mayor Michele Randall, Director Tracey Tabet, of the Utah CJC Program and the Utah Attorney General’s Office, President Natalie Ashby of Intermountain Health, Desert Region – Southwest Utah Market, St. George Regional Hospital, the project architect, Jeff Mathis with MRW Design, Annie Howell, CFO of Watts Construction, Amy Dansie, the CJC Friends Board Chair, Kristy Pike the Director of the Children’s Justice Center, and a prayer from Pastor Greg Wright of the Westside Baptist Church.
The speakers talked about the great work that the Children’s Justice Center does and how this expansion will better help them serve the children of Washington County. They also spoke about how the building came to fruition and the many donors that contributed to its success.
Following the remarks, the county commissioners, county administrator, law enforcement, city mayors, legislators, county attorney, other local dignitaries, project team, CJC board members, and CJC team members gathered to cut the ribbon on this beautiful addition to the community.
Attendees of the ceremony then got to tour the new building and enjoy the refreshments provided.
