Al’s Sporting Goods Opens in St. George, UT

On May 11th Watts joined Al’s Sporting Goods for a ribbon cutting of their new St. George store! The local community came out to support, including the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce. Several people spoke, including Nate Julian, Kris Larsen, and Jason Larsen with Al’s Sporting Goods, Annie Howell with Watts Construction, and Shawn Christensen with the St. George Area Chamber.

Jason Larsen, Al’s Sporting Goods President, said, “Watts did a phenomenal job. [They are a] local contractor. They were honest. You guys kicked butt. We will be talking more if Jeff and Kris can figure out a few more locations; we’ll be calling you guys again.”

Annie Howell, Watts Construction’s CFO, spoke of the intricacies of the project and the collaborative effort it took between the Watts team, Al’s team, and the architect to accomplish this 73,000 SF buildout. She also added her excitement about the addition of the store to the St. George area.

“This store is so unique to our area and is boosting the image of this commercial hub of business. I love all the brands that they offer and the different products you can’t find in St. George. Al’s is really capturing the outdoor adventure that we have here in Southern Utah, and I know they will fit right into our community for many years to come. Congratulations!”

This will be the 4th Al’s Sporting Goods retail store location

LOGAN, Utah (May 11, 2023) — Al’s Sporting Goods, a full-line specialty sporting goods retailer, announced today the grand opening of its newest store at Red Cliffs Mall in St. George, Utah. This is the largest of all the Al’s Sporting Goods stores, at over 70,000 square feet built by Watts Construction.

“St George is an unbelievable place for outdoor recreation, and the city has been great to work with,” said Kris Larsen, CEO of Al’s Sporting Goods. “I am confident this community has never seen a sporting goods retailer of the caliber and quality of Al’s. We sell every sport for every season, and the most in demand brands in every department.”

The new Al’s Sporting Good’s will be a Trek Bike retailer, with one of the largest bicycle shops in Washington County. For over a century this family owned and operated sporting goods retailers has been offering gear for “Every Sport. Every Season.” From top brands that include: Nike, The North Face, Under Armour, Patagonia, Columbia, Rossignol, Browning, Vortex, Vuori, Simms, Black Diamond, Burton, Trek, Salomon, Easton, Osprey and more.

“Al’s is also known for the sales! We have some of the lowest prices you will ever see during our major sales. On Black Friday the lines go around the building,” said Jason Larsen, President of Al’s Sporting Goods. “Our buyers are the best in the business and have been purchasing for this store for months.”

During May 11-13 as part of the grand opening celebrations, the entire store will be on sale, including doorbusters and giveaways.
